Knox Church

Deacons

Mission: To serve the Church (Acts 6:1-6)

The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of the Deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to anyone who may be in distress. Deacons have responsibility for coordinating many benevolent ministries at Knox including the Food Pantry, Food Kitchen, Blood Donation, Crosslines Toy Store, Habitat for Humanity, missionary support, and adoption scholarships, to name a few. The Deacons are also in charge of making decisions about Benevolence funds and how they are distributed. Deacons serve as Deacon of the Month and coordinate Sunday morning ushers and greeters. Love thy Neighbor provides meals for members as needed. When a death occurs in the family of a church member, the Deacons purchase a book for the church library in memory of the person who died.
