For many years, Knox Presbyterian Church has purchased toys for the Cross-lines ChristmasToy Store, which provides families with toys for their children that they might not otherwise be able to afford. Toy collection is an ongoing ministry throughout the year. Each year, we have a Christmas in July project, during which members are invited to select a gift tag off the tree and purchase a gift for a child. A special offering is taken to provide funds to purchase more gifts.
A group of Knox members serve as a Cross-lines team which oversees this ministry. Workdays are held at the toy storage unit in the spring and fall to organize toys for the Christmas store. Volunteers are needed to help at these workdays, prepare materials for the toy store, paint doll cradles, make bedding for the cradles, set up the store in November, and man the toy store during the week the Christmas Store is open each December.
Numerous members and friends of Knox have purchased thousands of toys, books, games and gifts for teens, which have brightened the holidays of countless children and families.
God continues to bless this ministry as we seek to reach out to the poor and needy with our generous giving, and share the love of God with a hurting world.
