Blessing of the Backpacks Worship Service

Join us for a special worship service at 10am dedicated to all children, youth, teachers, and staff as we prepare for the new school year. Don’t forget to bring your backpacks for a blessing and a small keepsake—a reminder that you are held in love and prayer throughout the year.

Let’s come together in faith and community to support and encourage everyone heading back to school this Fall.

Immediately following the service:

  • Sunday School kicks off for children and youth

  • Spiritual Growth Classes begin for adults

  • Parent Meeting — All parents are invited to gather for a brief meeting to hear about upcoming plans and opportunities for children and youth at Knox Church during the school year

Then at 12pm, we’ll share in a classic "school lunch"—fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, macaroni & cheese, and dessert.

It’s a joyful day of worship, learning, connection, and community. We hope you’ll join us!

Prayer Vigil

Knox Church is in a season of transition, and we believe in the power of prayer to sustain, guide, and unify us. God calls us to pray — not just in times of need, but as a constant act of faith and trust. “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” — Romans 12:12

We invite you to join us for a special Prayer Vigil on Saturday, August 23, lifting up our church, Pastor Nominating Committee, Session, Deacons, and Staff.

Come at any time between 7am and 1pm to pray in the Sanctuary or the Prayer Room in 215A. Please sign up on the poster board by the Welcome Center.

Worship Service: Reader's Theatre

Join us for a unique and thought-provoking Reader’s Theatre performance, “The Christian Pursuit of the Trivial Game” by Todd V. Lewis, presented during our 10am worship service on Sunday, July 20.

Featuring a talented cast of Knox members — Greg Conway, Steve Hawkins, Julie Moylan, Jane Rockhold, and Lori Triplett — this dramatic reading explores meaningful themes that touch the heart of our faith journey:

  • Judgement

  • Redemption

  • Playing church vs. living faith

  • Love

  • The true Spirit of Worship

While deeply reflective and spiritually rich, the performance also brings a welcome dose of humor — reminding us that faith doesn’t have to be somber to be sincere. Through powerful storytelling, laughter, and honest moments, we’ll be both challenged and inspired to go deeper in our Christian walk.

Sam Cawthon Reception

We extend our deepest gratitude to Knox Church’s Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Sam Cawthon, for her incredible nine years of faithful service. Sam has poured her heart into nurturing the faith of our youngest members, creating a warm, welcoming, and spiritually rich environment where children could grow in their love for God. As Sam steps away from her position, we pray for abundant blessings, continued joy, and exciting opportunities ahead.

To celebrate and thank Sam, please join us for an ice cream reception following the 10:00am worship service on Sunday, June 22. All are welcome as we share sweet memories and a sweet treat together!

They are part of Knox Church’s mission partnership and serve with Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). They plan to return to Thailand in 2026. Knox Deacons have faithfully supported Riew's ministry through CRU, and we are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them in their calling.
